Description I finally finished my Art Trade for the background took quite a while and it was rather complicated.... but I think it turned out well enough I hope she likes it. She asked for feathers in particular... and I was originally going to draw an angel.... but as I started drawing the piece ended up far more tribal than I originally anticipated.

I almost had an heart attack when i downloaded this and zoomed in to about 300%...
I salute you or rather worship you and that is because of your patience
I wish i'll have that much patience someday.

JANunnoArt In reply to pranav16 [2012-06-14 15:41:14 +0000 UTC]

Well thank you lol, giving heart attacks wasn't my intention though lol. The piece isn't finished yet I still have the background to do and that is going to take some time to get done. Doing this method is time consuming and sometimes it can take hours just to get one little area done. I'm glad you like it so far and don't worry I think you'll gain the patience I looked briefly at some of youre artwork and it looks beautiful!

No problem and thanks for looking, however briefly you may have.
There's not much in my gallery right now, but i'm sure much is to come.

Wow, freaky but awesome! And you used pointillism for it all?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JANunnoArt In reply to SamGuentherArt [2012-01-23 06:08:03 +0000 UTC]

All of it is, except for the skin tone. I don't have enough marker colors to simulate skin tone in pointillism. (I've tried with what I have before and it didn't work so well). So I shaded it in with copic sketch markers and then did little details in pointillism. Everything else is true pointillism. Then I used ink to make the stars in the sky.

You really should put the # of hours it took you to do this on your descriptions. I'm trying to work up the courage to try a weaker version of this technique with Prismacolor markers.

oh... I'm Jessica too, btw!

JANunnoArt In reply to deathweaselx86 [2011-06-22 15:31:26 +0000 UTC]

Well hello Jessica!!!
You're right I should calculate it. I never do though... I'm afraid if I do I might wear myself out more lol. Usually I calculate it by days, in this case it took me around 2 weeks between work and classwork. And, it was the background that took the longest because I layered the skin tone in with copic sketch markers.
You should give it a try. I've been working on this technique since I was like 15... so that's like 9 years now... geez lol. You should start out on a small piece of paper I recommend 4x6 so your not totally limiting yourself and work in black and white. I wouldn't worry about color until you get more comfortable with it because the color involved a lot of layering. Black and white will teach you to gradate properly and have a good sense of contrast. I used to do little pointillism pieces of like cups or flowers or something I had around just to practice form. They wouldn't taken me very long and usually I scraped them, but it was good practice for what I do now.

Hey Jessica I like the colors in this one the orange tinted skin along with the blue and purple background looks great.I agree with you about the decision to not draw the angel. This piece just has a spiritual feeling.Great job

JANunnoArt In reply to Jasun100 [2011-06-21 16:41:01 +0000 UTC]

The more I worked with it, the more that spiritual feeling started to come out. And, I really wanted to play with that idea. I think there was some part of me that needed to. This piece ended up being a very good and relaxing for me. I'm glad you liked it since it's been a long time since I last did a portrait >.<'

Good! I'm so glad! I was worried about it considering how weird the piece is... I honestly have no idea how it turned out like that lol. The background was time consuming, that's why it took me so long to get this posted on here for you. I just finished it yesterday and I scanned it as soon as it was done. Do you want me to send you the JPG like I had you do for me?
