Description
When I first designed Roland , I didn't give much thought to his origins as a Frank, i.e. the ancestors of the French and Germans. I wanted him to be visually distinct from Captain Miracle, so I gave him a darker complexion. As I thought more about Roland and fleshed him out, I decided to justify his darker skin by making his father a Christian Arab (which doesn't feel out of line for the stories revolving around Charlemagne and his peers). But I still found him just a bit too swarthy for that.
So, I messed around with him a bit tonight. Same base skin, but a bit lighter, and I think the red tones help. I figure he can pass for a guy of mixed ancestry who's also out in the sun a lot. Aude seems to approve.

Though from what I understand, if I really want to make him look like he's from Charlemagne's time, he needs to be cleanshaven save for a really long mustache. And Aude needs to wear her hair long.
