After 26 years, a new Battletoads game released this last week. While waiting for the game to unlock, I started working on a picture of the main antagonist, the Dark Queen. Naturally, I put her in her classic outfit instead of the new game's redesign. Started the picture, then the game unlocked, so I played it.
Gameplay-wise, I give it a 7/10. It has multiple genres, but I think the developers should have nixed a few and focused on absolutely nailing the rest. Soundtrack's good.
But then you get into my other problems. I already disliked the art style. Then came the humor itself. Some jokes were good, but others were awful. My favorite character wears a shit-filled diaper, and it took me right back to Luke Skywalker chugging milk straight from an alien teat.
Then the devs took a potshot at those of us who don't like the Dark Queen's new look. They wrote in a character who criticized her outfit, then had him chastised and killed ("Like you're entitled to [the old outfit] just because we hung out twenty years ago."). I'm really sick of creators dunking on critical fans.

So, here's DQ, magically detached cape and all. Also, she's Genesis 8 this time.
