"The noble families of Arcadia are among the strongest beings in the universe, but even amongst themselves, the families of the Seven Gods stand above all others. The magic some of their members produce can be so dangerous, they can even poison their own children.

Sir Thanatos had warned his daughter Selene about the boy. He pleaded her to send him away to another Knight to become a squire and to protect him from the Curse of House Mavros. Selene loved both her children furiously and could not be convinced to separate from them, but her overbearing decision proved to be exactly what brought the curse onto young Astraeos.

House Mavros, led by the Goddess of the Night, often blessed the women of the family with the strongest magical ability in Arcadia. With Selene and her daughter, Phoebe, Astraeos had no chance after he started to develop Aether, and fell gravely ill within weeks. Desperate to save his life, Selene had no choice but to summon the High Priestess. She offered two solutions: keep Astraeos away, or force his body to accept their magic. Selene loved her family, and would do anything to keep them with her. She hastily agreed to the latter, not caring about the consequences of her action.

Eos' body slowly overcame and recovered. He developed his magic slowly, and with help from his grandfather, was able to become a squire. However, only when he had finally reached Apotheosis, the slow culmination of his development, did they all learn that by making his body accept his mother and sister's magic, his body was now being changed to resemble theirs. He couldn't escape the Curse of House Mavros, after all."
