UWAHH YOU READ MOOMIN OH YES THAT'S AMAZING!! I LOVE MOOMIN!! I thought you would, it's SO popular in Finland and other Scandinavian countries (as well as Japan). Heck, it actually started in Sweden. My favorite characters are the Hattifatteners (I have an ADORABLE keychain of them from Finland that I got in 3rd grade, that's when I first read the Moomin stories)!
Great painting BTW, Snufkin is awsome!

HAHAHAHAHA I KNOW RIGHT, MOOMIN ARE AMAZING! (Sorry Perri, I have to correct you a bit!) Although the moomin comics were originally written in Swedish, it was by a Finnish lady. She was part of the 6% of the Finnish population that has Swedish as their mother language. So she was a Swedish Finn. I actually know the moomins from Japan, and I watched the cartoons in Japanese when I was little! I was a bit suprised to find out it was from Finland!! Ah, and *useless but cool trivia* I was talking to a lady in Sweden, and she mentioned that they actually get the Finnish moomin cartoon subbed in Swedish (but that might just be her situation)as children in Sweden !! I have so much moomin stuff now, you have no idea! I'm glad you like it, I was experimenting with watercolours!!

Haha, thanks! Of course I know the Moomin. I live in Finland. The author was a Swedish-speaking Finn. That is awesome, that you are named after her! There's so many girls up here named after her.

But I actually grew up watching it in Japan...

That's so cool! I love the books.
Yeah, why does Japan know all about it?

Because it's cute, and the Japanese love adorable stuff. The animation and cartoons you see, and the designs you probably know best, those are from Japan. One of my friends from Finland is in Japan, and in her Englsih book there was an exercise on buying Moomin things. I'm not sure how it became popular, but it is VERY much loved by the Japanese.

I've never seen the cartoons, we just have the books. Yeah, my mom and I found Moomim crackers once at an Asian market and we were really surprised! It just seems such and odd thing for them to latch onto

No wonder! That makes sense. It's even on some of the planes that fly between Japan and Finland. When I was little, it was on my dentist gum. Well, they are cute.
