Description
Blade Bloodline (2024) Genre: Action, Horror, Fantasy. Total Runtime 3h 08min (Rated R for strong violence and gore, strong language, body horror)
PREMISE: It's the year 1988. World is free from the vampires, Dracula's reign is over, mankind's only thing to fear is a nuclear holocaust. BLADE has retired from hunting vampires and started a family with SAFRON CAULDER, having their hands full with their rebellious teenage daughter, BRIELLE BROOKS. Brielle is a quarter-vampire, able to have a normal high school student life until one day she gets trapped in a day long TIME LOOP, each loop ending her getting sacrificed by crazy cultists or with the APOCALYPSE. Brielle has to use the loops to unravel the mystery of who is after her and why is this happening to her before her death becomes PERMANENT.
MAKING OF: The epic conclusion for the Blade trilogy is finally here! This was tricky to make, but not impossible. I tried to be innovative with each entry, make a fresh spin, it's extra hard when you try to bookend a trilogy, third movie is usually the worst, or weakest one, Blade Trinity is a good example xD. I had the main plot points figured out, Blade takes a backseat, Brielle takes the lead, but how much I tried to put it together and make it work, it didn't work, it didn't work in the typical linear narrative, there was more Brielle than Blade, devolved in a Terminator type a cat and mouse chase, pretty generic, not in the same level as the first two.
And one day it hit me! Main problem is the linear narrative, what if we LOOP it. We don't make it a chase movie, we make it a mystery movie like Happy Death Day, vampires meet Groundhog Day, NOW that's something I've NEVER seen before! You can kill people left and right, even main characters, because you know they'll come back alive the next day xD Fixing the lack of gore. And Brielle's vampire powers depend on what time of the day it is, it would be easier explained and explored if the same day is on repeat. And it's not Brielle finding out to be special, but story about Brielle becoming a woman. She isn't just discovering who is after her, she is discovering herself, learning more about her father and learning to appreciate him more.
And when it's a loop, Blade and Brielle have equal screen time, Blade is always there, in the same place, every same day, but somehow every interaction with Blade produces different kind of funny critical comments, even Brielle notices it xD. Yeah, comedy is pretty strong with this one. Typical MCU comedy xD MCU has done small time loops like in Doctor Strange "Dormammu, I've come to bargain" scene and Loki series, but not a whole movie, not in this scale, not yet at least.
But yeah, all come together in a super epic conclusion, all loose ends will be tied up, and even as the last one, even this will have mid-credit and post-credit scenes which mostly connect this with rest of the MCU, as a Elseworld story unless Blade reboot sucks balls then this will be canon xD
