I've been thinking a lot about my Contrast ID and thought about doing an entire series about contrasting self portraits. I did the darker version tonight and had a few that I really enjoyed, this being my favourite of tonight. Hope you like it as much as I do. I'll keep you posted xSelf-portrait;

So I would be willing to bet that older women are delighted that you are wearing makeup, since that makes you look more like them.
Makeup is what old women wear, to try to look how young women look, when they are not wearing makeup. But when everyone has a paint job, then you all start to look the same.
But I do like your collar!

In comparison to the other, the lowered saturation here makes it less "loaded" so I'd say best of the two.

I took a photo with my cell phone, but I guess I deleted it.
I have a navy sheet backdrop with a desk lamp clamped to a book sitting on the floor to the left (and a little behind) me. There was also a white shopping bag over it so the light was more dispersed

So you made a soft box out of a desk lamp and a shopping bag? Very clever.
I was trying to figure how I would have done it in the studio and I came up with a three strobe setup: a can, behind on the floor as a hair light, a small softbox to your left to illuminate your left side and the primary medium softbox diagonally right and center. And. I still wouldn't have gotten a great shot like this.
