UPDATE 3/19/08: I'd been wanting to revist this piece for a while, and when I put my '08 sketchbook together, I got my chance...So here's the updated version (redid Zoe on the right, and did some general touch ups/retouching).

This was a commission for
He requested the four "girls" from Quentin Tarantino's half of GRINDHOUSE, DEATH PROOF!!!
Being a HUGE QT and GRINDHOUSE fan, and already wanting to do another DP fan art, I went ahead and gave this one some extra attention!!!
Here's the gals enjoying their moment of victory (including Lee, cuz she was left out in the film
)...The girls, from left to right:
Lee (aka The Cheerleader)
Kim
Abernathy (Rosario Dawson)
and Zoe (as herself, Zoe Bell)

Great sketch, and nice touch with the Stuntman Mike's hand. Really shows his agony! lol Funny story, I was at San Diego Comic Con last year and Rosario Dawson was there. At the panel some asked her "what was it like kicking Kurt Russell's ass?" She said that she and Tracie Thoms pulled their punches so they wouldn't hit Kurt, but Zoe was actually punching him!

Ah yes, we're in agreement on the ending... I was far too conflicted about Mike getting his at the end to root and chear as we're supposed to.
And no, Lee (the cheerleader) was not in the scene, but I wanted to do a piece of the finale, with all four girls.

You know, it would be cool if QT used those characters in another film. He could have them as vigilantes or something like that. They really seemed to enjoy hunting down that dude and kickin' the crap out of him.

Yeah, that was so awesome, a toss up really between the final scene beat-down, and Kurt (Mike) goin baby banannas in his car after being shot

Yeah, I was hoping we'd get something more about her in the extended cut at the end... it's not really, but still somehow it feels unresolved leaving her there like that. Ha ha!
