Thank you! It is the gypsy Esmeralda from Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame...its the scene where Frollo is singing a song Hellfire and he sees her image in the flames of his fireplace.

Wow, that's incredibly good! (I just watched HOND the other day and this particular song/scene has been stuck in my head, believe it or not.) You've really captured the essence of the "Hellfire" sequence. Great job!

Jasmeralda In reply to Mindscapes [2004-04-18 11:12:08 +0000 UTC]

Hehe that's kewl that you watched it recently...now the song will be suck in your head even more hehe Thank for you kind words! the only thing that I wish from it is that the markers had blened better together, but it's it's own look I'm glad you like it!

Mindscapes In reply to Jasmeralda [2004-04-18 11:14:14 +0000 UTC]

You're welcome! (I've kind of been on a scary Disney kick lately, which is only compounding my recent reobsession with "Atlantis", which I am about to go watch AGAIN!) (Yes, I watch Disney movies at 7 am!) And you're right! The minute I saw your picture, the song began playing in my head! Ack! Again, great job!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Jasmeralda In reply to Mindscapes [2004-04-18 11:22:13 +0000 UTC]

Nothing wrong with that at all.....and I love atlantis too....its very purdy to look at I LOVE Kida...I've been meaning to do more drawings of her, but just haven't yet ...I tried a bit the other day and her eyes were just WAY to big for face and that's saying a lot hehe Have fun! ....."Atlantis is Waiting...."

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Mindscapes In reply to Jasmeralda [2004-04-18 12:13:00 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! I've just come upstairs having put it on pause to look up something. (I'm drawing at the same time and I need more reference shots of the character!) Kida is incredibly hard. I've never gotten her quite right though I've gotten close. Here's a tip on Kida: her face doesn't follow the normal proportions. Her face is only four eyelengths across, with three down the center and half and half tacked onto the outer side of each eye. The eyes themselves are one full eyelength in height as opposed to the normal half eyelength. See if that helps.

Okay, time for a quick print and then I'll go back to the movie! (They're about to meet the king!)

Yeah....thanks for all the info....yeah I had looked into that a long time ago and had learned it from the model sheets and such, but when I tried to draw her, I forgot it all LOL...but I think her eyes looked good alone...without the head LOL

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Mindscapes In reply to Jasmeralda [2004-04-19 21:38:35 +0000 UTC]

You're welcome. I've learned the hard way that relying on model sheets or how-to books alone are not the solution to drawing characters. I now measure everything myself, using the eye unit. I'm learning to draw by reading books and visiting websites. I didn't know the correct measurements of a typical human until I bought a book late last year!

I had friends show me that early on and when I took my life drawing classes learned even more about it! It helped a lot!
