Alpha Flight is very cool. Good artwork of one of its best members!

Pretty well done!  I'm kind of partial to the character from the days when John Byrne introduced him in the pages of the core X-Men comic (#121-122, in the late 1970s) and wrote him later in AF's own comic.

I've found that digital tonework takes a lot of the mess out of the original hand-pressed method.  It seems that the old halftone sheets will no longer be needed for anything, and that's probably a good thing.

Yeah, I've never used really zip tone before... just the digital kind. Definitely easier to use and make corrects on, no doubt.

I loved the first 12 issues of the original run of AF. And I dug the later issues (#24-27) when Guardian seemed to come back from the dead. The issues in between were fine but they seemed to lack any really excitement.

I think my favorite AF issues was the solo issue of Puck's (#5).

Ahh Alpha Flight, great comic but i always thought John Bryne spread himself too thin at times, and i thought the artwork sometimes suffered. Apparently its coming back, and from the looks of things ALL the original characters are back too?

Yeah, I haven't read the new book, yet... but I do believe that they are all back, again.

I'll agree that Bynre was probably on too many books, at the time. There is some great drawing in most of them, though.

Thanks for the comment!

now which issue of early Alpha flight John Byrne work did I see this exact pose before?

JasonCopland In reply to VARAKIENEN [2011-06-06 08:43:38 +0000 UTC]

Not sure. There is a pose sort of like it on page 14 of issue 18. That's where I drew inspiration from. My drawing falls between panels 1 and 2 of that page. Can't say there was a specific panel I took it directly from, though.

Well, like I said, I didn't lift the pose so there's not anything to "fess up to"...

Ha! Where did that angry jumpy face thing come from...? I didn't put it there.. but if I did, I don't know how I did it... and I can't seem to get rid of it... ha.
