It seems that FFG illustrators are supposed to make their illustrations as similar to the miniatures as possible, from what I've seen.
Is it constraining, or does it help working on the detailing and whatnot?

I don't mind either way. Games Workshop prefer things close to the miniatures, which helps control the intellectual property across different projects. If there's no miniature, there's more leeway artistically.

Can't help it got good idea how this would go on.
The one marine that is still in the landspeeder grabs the talon of the beast.
He struggles to keep the grip.
Beast notices marine and trys to get rid of it.
Other marine on the ground, after the fall got stunned for few seconds, grabs the still functioning heavy bolter and starts spraying.
Beast screeches from pain and gets even angrier.
Marine holding still the talon gets chanse to climb up taking out his bolt pistol and starts shooting at the eyes of the beast.
This would end somewhat draw, but one brother is lost due to their heroic stand against such mighty beast. Beast got wounded and tunneled back to where ever it camefrom.
