The main character betraying his/her non-human friend which is something they'll regret, especially with the fact that they're like them. While Robyn did it to protect Mebh because her mother told her not to come rescue her, Luca did it out of self-preservation. Out of the two, his motive is the selfish one.

Also, how Luca and Robyn were forgiven for their betrayal is different. Robyn has decided to save Moll directly when she realized that the latter's way is not working, therefore redeeming herself. Mebh is reluctant to forgive her, but a nudge from her mom convinced her to do so. The two even shared a sisterly hug. Luca, on the other hand, is not lucky. Despite apologizing to him, Alberto is just too angry to not forgive him and tells him to go away. He came in time for the bike race to save him from Ercole without as much as a word about the incident. Out of them, it's Luca who got off easily. This is coming from the fact that his betrayal is much hurtful than Robyn's.
