Ruby and Cinder began to fight on the roof of a building, Ruby did not bring her Crescent Rose, however, she had already called the RWBY team to come as quickly as possible to support her, so she tried to buy time against Cinder.

During their match, Ruby decided to kick her that Cinder couldn't avoid. She jumped with all her strength, yet Cinder was prepared for her next move. Ruby carelessly failed to predict a move from Cinder causing the latter to avoid the attack. Cinder took advantage of Ruby's carelessness and took off her left boot, exposing Ruby's foot, she was embarrassed and nervous.

Cinder grabbed Ruby by the left foot, preventing her from escaping from her, Ruby tried to free herself from Cinder's hands, as she was ready to burn her at that moment. Fortunately, Ruby activated her gray eyes, distracting Cinder and successfully escaping her.

Already in a safer place, Ruby communicated with Weiss, she told her that they could not go on time and that they will come to the meeting place in an hour, apologizing for the change in plans. Ruby told her not to worry about her and for her to find a way to go home, Ruby felt happy to escape from this situation, but sad for having lost one of her boots because they were her favorites.

If the RWBY team had arrived on time, wouldn't Ruby have lost her boot? That is a question that may not have an answer.
