Description
hiddengardenia and I paired up (plus DawnFlight13 and I!) and this is the result - a totally different kind of pairing and battle.

hiddengardenia did the art, I did the writing (the opening is courtsey of hiddengardenia though -fistbumps-) . We both spammed the shit out of each other on the whats and hows and everything in between. XD

“I don't have enough levels for the random recon mission. There's not even a reward for finishing it.” Sierra groaned as the so called mission 'playboy in purple' gave her. Not only that she wasn't alone in on this; and it was with with Ruby. Now out of everything she had to attempt getting along with whomever she's stuck with.

" 'Now girls, we need you to try and help Lapis Lazuli Mermaid.'" Sierra mocked with air quotes as she walked over to the person she had to meet to go with everyone.

"Hola..... English right, hey, I'm Amber Swift Fox but that's a mouthful so Swifty's fine. Ready to fry the fish?" Swifty (Sierra) asked changing into her fuku extending a hand out to the stranger.

"Amber Swift Fox you're going to help your fellow senshi. Not fry fish." Jun said annoyed to which Swifty rolled her eyes over.

"Not my fault this foreign damsel character's appearance is bogus. Vale?" Swifty said smoothly running her unextended hand through her hair.
With a tilt of her head Jet Ermine gave a perfunctory bow to the stranger, her vibrant eyes looking at the other warrior and absently fluffing her gloves before she took the extended hand and bowing over it again. One could never bow too many times.
Maybe.
“We should be fine,” Jet said genially, blinking and her hair floofing just a bit. “If we die, though, how do the notices to family go? I haven’t told mine I wear short skirts and revealing bodysuits and wouldn’t like them to find out ingloriously.”
Be prepared? Fluid shrug and Jet listened to the briefing and giggled softly. The Jokers were not exactly something she’d seen outside of the briefings before so she studied them, barely noticing as Swifty leaned on her shoulder.
“We’re fighting a snake and a chicken.”
“Noodle snake. Look at the wiggly tail.”
“And rescuing a fish.”
“...maybe we should stop for a snack on the way out,” Jet said conversationally, stomach rumbling a bit.

Help me Lapis mentally screamed, hoping against every hope that someone had heard, that someone would come-
And the arrival of footsteps was heralded by the slight scent of ....food? Fries?
Even the Jokers turned at the scent because there was something infectiously recognizable about french fries and the two arriving senshi had picked up perhaps the fastest take-out that the world had seen. Sharing a fry carton, they tossed the last bag wigglers aside as they stood there, ready.
“...they mentioned this,” Jet said softly, giving Swifty a look and making finger gestures. “Pose?”
“...do we have to?!”
“It’s traditional!”
"You seem big on tradition, aren’t you.”
“Well what else are we supposed to do when we arrive on scene?”
Basilisk and Cockatrice looked at each other and Mermaid, while Swifty and Jet discussed, finally the two Jokers clearing their throats and Mermaid making a meep.
At the signal, Swifty struck the pose, the perfect Heroic Pose - the one that somehow summoned a spotlight, the air stilling and a chorus of music swelling behind her with Jet setting her phone to speaker mode. It was Swifty’s moment to shine.
“All right, noodle and chicken, we’re here for the fish! And you can’t stop us!”
Gripping Mermaid’s neck Cockatrice hissed at the arriving senshi and eyes narrowed - before she laughed. Just a deep-seated, full body laugh.
“Can you believe this? THIS-” she wrenched Mermaid’s head around to show Mermaid the two senshi starting to drop into battle stance, “-is your help. You shouldn’t have even asked for help if this was what you’re gonna get. So, who are you two, anyways?”
Pose struck, Swifty opted to throw her first attack before responding, causing the two Jokers to back away just enough. “The two who’re gonna kick your ass, that’s who! Amber Swift Fox-” Her name was accompanied by sharp shards that sliced through the air, watching Cockatrice backflip away from the slamming slivers.
“Jet Ermine,” was added quietly, hands throwing apart as energy sparked off and away, further driving Cockatrice back. The ghostly ermine attacked the Joker and the two senshi on the side of good slapped their fists together celebratorily before turning, looking at Basilisk.
Sadly that was the moment the second Joker was waiting for, a slick grin on her lips as she met their gaze - and Swifty froze then a moment later Jet froze too, trickles of sweat as they fought the control.
The ghostly little ermine lived up to its namesake though and chomped teeth down on Basilisk’s tail.
“You bitch-” the Joker screeched, racing forward and physically slamming the pair of senshi aside, a vicious tail swiped in a high round-house to throw them further and further back.
“It’s ok,” Cokcatrice called out, one hand wrapped around Mermaid again as the quickest victory would come from fleeing with their prize now, before the two senshi had a chance to learn to work together. “We just need to flee.”
They could take the exp penalty, after all.
