Hmm... so are you closer to the heart of Portland or farther out toward the outskirts? I really do hope it's safe, at least. 0_0
And yes, it's been a great deal of fun, but it's also a lot of work writing all of these profiles. I've pretty much already put up two essays' worth of material on the history of the particular ship and the history of the continuity she's from, but I haven't even started talking about the technical design of the ship itself and why she looks like the way my collaborator designed her. ^_^;
Here's what I've put up already:

Oh, dear. Hearing what you just said about safety is getting me a little worried about you. *frets* I guess you know where to go and where not to? Do you also work in St. Johns, and have you always lived in that spot?
And really, you were actually looking through those? I'm really happy to hear that you find them interesting! It actually rather surprised me how easily I was able to blend what I made up years ago, with what created, all along with new things that I was just creating now.
For example, I'm working out the background of this class at the moment, but I got totally thrown for a loop when :kavinveldar: suddenly produced a new design that looked like a TOS-era version of this same ship. So I actually had to stop what I was doing, take a good hard look at it, and then try to figure out a way to work it into what I was already writing and then go all the way back and explain *that.* It's tough! ^_^;
The very "idea" of what became U.S.S. Resilient (NCC-2931) actually came from way back in 2007-2008, when I created the plot arc she stars in, but it wasn't until I chose her design and "iconkavinveldar: built her for me that she finally took on a real form, other than just being "that ship."
But if you want high detail, oh, my dear, you have it and you'll keep getting it. As you know, I already wrote two essays' worth of material for that little ship and there's more where that came from.

I've lived here most of my life, and it's not bad if you avoid the bad parts.
Yes, of course I was - I pay attention to what people post, even if I don't always comment (because of lack of time or something to say...) XD
I'll look it over when you finish it! XD

Hmm, I see. Do you know Portland very well? Part of me wants to say that you're probably lucky that you haven't moved much. I moved from China, to San Francisco, to Marin County, CA, then spent time in Berkeley (undergrad), Rock Hill, South Carolina (grad school) and am now in Augusta (medical school), and at this point, I don't even know where I'm going to be working.
It's made it extremely difficult to really set some roots down anywhere, but it's also made me genuinely appreciate what it's like to really feel like you belong somewhere. Were you born in Portland/St. Johns or did you move there eventually?
Wow, I really am honored that you were keeping track of my posts, because given how much I've been writing (practically a full blown Jane's Fighting Ships entry, so to speak), that must have been a ton of stuff to try to read through! I'm really sorry if it started feeling like it was getting too long. 0_0
I'm still working on the technical entry at the moment, but I'll be sure to let you know when it's ready!

No, I moved here when I was very little. But most of my family is actually historically from here or moved here, starting with my Great-Great-Grandmother. XD
Question! Which Enterprise would you say is a contemporary match to Mr. Sun's time period: 1701, 1701-A, or 1701-B?

Ah, so you do indeed have some history with Portland, after all. I'm amazed that you know enough about your family to remember where your Great-Great-Grandmother lived! I just barely remember what region of China my Grandparents came from - that's it for my immediately family, really! It's rather distressing, since I'm very proud of my heritage. Do you remember where you moved from and why?
Well, M. Tobias "Toby" Sun - the mainline version of him, anyway - is born in 2253. He becomes a Captain/OF-6 in 2287. The Enterprise-A was first seen in 2286 (Star Trek IV), so I suppose the Enterprise-A is the best choice for his contemporary.
On the other hand, his ship was built on an Excelsior shell, so I do have some attachment to the 1701-B... but yes, the 1701-A is the best suited to be his contemporary, if you're thinking of when he first reaches his captaincy.

I moved from Virginia because my parents split. Keep in mind, I was told that and not that I remembered (although, despite being 3 and less and not having seen him after that, I do remember the man). My mother moved a lot because he was a Navy man.
Hmmm.. Sounds good. Which era would you prefer? A or B?
