I have always imagined it as a protective relationship. Kai had to realize he wasnβt the green ninja and he was there to protect the green ninja. Thatβs what held him back from his true potential. After this, he truly seemed to be determined to help Lloyd. I feel like all of the ninjas are like family to Lloyd.
