Description I don't draw anywhere near enough landscapes... I think this is my first one in over two years o.O
Given that, I can see a big improvement when I compare this to the background of 'spring', which is very encouraging. The focus was on getting the feel of the landscape, the colours and the overall composition.

Speedpainting - 2 hours or so, intuos4, photoshop CS3

Where are the fold to provide evidence for the compressional setting? Or any other orogenic evidence for that matter.

covered in snow The ref pic had an amazing z-fold in it but I'm not good enough to paint that yet

great work !!! I recently tried to paint digitally mountains but i couldn't do it so good ! question ; do you start with a base color and you build up with lighter ones untill you got that or do you use another technique ?

I usually start with a base colour. Plain white is a bit intimidating to start with, and adding a colour straight off helps make sure all of your shading is unified. I try to pick a desaturated middle tone
