Gnarls aren't too difficult to produce...just a matter of knowing how the formula will react to your input. The gnarl formula I use is a little complex in scope, but it only takes the changing of a parameter or two to create something unique that you can color. The formula defaults to a standard vine gnarl, which is good for using transformation formulas on.
BTW, that formula I use? It's here: jaycecruel.deviantart.com/art/… (shameful plug, I know). Of course, the standard gnarls in mt.ufm work nicely as well, but...
