Description
This pendant is made with a Jade Cabochon and copper jump rings of 4mm and 7mm. It is strung on a copper necklace.

This necklace is what I am entering for *Bright-Circle 's 'The Beaded Passion Contest . Please if you have a moment go look at the other peices posted!

This pendant was to be a challenge to myself. I picked out this Jade cab specifically at one of the gem shows I went to. I wasn't sure exactly what I was going to make it into except a pendant at the time. But Jade has always left an impression with me of grace and beauty. Something I like to show in my work.
A couple months later I pulled out the Jade again, still at a loss of what it wanted to be. Then it hit me. What is grace and beauty without warmth or affection? I pulled out my Copper wire as it has given me a glowing warmth in several of my pieces. I put them together and there was the softening warmth that I had been looking for.
But I didn't want to cover the lovely Jade too much and have it disappear with my wire-wrapping. So I pulled out my Copper jump rings and started to design.
It took me somewhere around 6 or 7 hours to complete and in that time I was so focused on it I didn't register anything going on around me.
I believe it was worth that wait.

One of the interesting things I found out about this pendant is when you hold it up to the light, with the Cab facing you, the light will filter through the Copper-work and make a lattice effect on the Jade. It's very pretty and I am still trying to get that on film.
