Description
A recent commission where I was asked to draw two classic comic strip characters together--Daisy Mae from "Li'l Abner", and the caveman Alley Oop. For those who don't know, Sadie Hawkins Day was a holiday invented by "Li'l Abner" creator Al Capp, where women would hunt down men for marriage. Li'l Abner was dumb as a box of rocks and fled Daisy Mae's pursuits. I believe Alley Oop would be smart enough to let himself get caught.Related content

I recently read an article about Al Capp and his life full of strugglesΒ reason.com/archives/2013/02/26β¦ , and I liked how he dared to draw sexy females like Daisy in the rather conservative funny papers back then. Β Nice crossover here.

For a time, Sadie Hawkins Day became an actual event at many schools in the US, not for marriage, but because the girls were to ask the guys out to dance instead (this was the mid-20th century, before liberation, so it was considered unusual).

Kind of the reason I asked for these characters, I felt bad for Daisy and I like Alley Oop.
