Description To commemorate my favorite month (October) and my favorite holiday (Halloween), I'm doing a monster sketch per day.

This time I've chosen to draw Jason Voorhees, my favorite horror movie slasher from the "Friday the 13th" series. If Jason looks a bit chunky, it's because I based my design of him on the Shropshire Slasher from the 1956 Looney Tunes cartoon, "Deduce, You Say!", starring Daffy Duck as the dim detective, Dorlock Homes.

Can't go wrong with mixing Shropshire Slasher with Jason. Its a perfect funny combo! Say Jay. Whats yer take on the remake of Friday the 13th?

I wasn't crazy about the remake. I like slow, lumbering Jason better than "movin' all fast" Jason.

I wasn't crazy about it either. I thought it would have been good if it was handled right. But it was a poor execution.

Until I read the description, my first thought was that Jason had really let himself go.

Before I read the description, the first thing I thought of was the Shropshire Slasher.Β

I figured the part about the Looney Tunes from the meat hooks on that Jason, the kind that knock Bugs or Daffy into a wall. Β People can laugh all they want about how chunky he looks, but I'm a fan of Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. the Kingpin, and a Kingpin-sized Jason would be bad-ass! Β Excellent work on one of the main reasons why I'm not a fan of summer camps out in the woods (others include bugs, bears, and the very idea of camping).Β

I loved the Shropshire Slasher in that old cartoon!Β  "Name?"Β  "Shropshire Slasher."Β  "Occupation?"Β  "Shropshire Slasher."Β  I still giggle hearing that in my head.
This is a bit, um, more graphic.Β  And totally in keeping with your theme.

Yes! That and the way he was hat off polite to Porky and constantly mopped the floor with Daffy.

I like the idea of Jason as huge, he always appears much larger than even the largest of his victims.
I was just watching a Friday the 13th marathon yesterday.

Nice work on the head, the mound of deformed, twisted and bumpy flesh just beneath the smooth white surface of his mask work in great contrast with one another.

Favorite Jason film Jay?

Glad you asked! "Jason Goes To Hell"--typically the least favorite among fans, but I think it's awesome!

I feel many dislike it because it goes against the movie cliche and has him die off early and yet he returns at the end.
I felt it was original and lets face it, you can only get away with killing campers for so long before they catch up to you

I thought it was clever.

I am not a huge fan of Jason X or Jason goes to Manhattan but then again, I was always more of a Freddy Krueger Fan than a Jason Fan, no offense to your opinion sir.

Not at all! I have a particular fondness for Freddy VS Jason (I root for Jason), and I really liked Ken Kirzinger as Jason--a much taller version than we'd previously seen by the equally talented Kane Hodder). I do wish they would have upped the gore--it was rated R, and they barely even used it to their fullest potential. But it was a whole lotta fun.

I was definitely surprised by how much that movie impressed me.
I love the scene with Freddy pretending to be Jason's mother "Make them remember what fear tastes like!"

I've always enjoyed Robert Englunds acting, I saw the re-make of Nightmare on Elm Street and I don't like it, it was nothing like the movies I grew up with.
The deaths are supposed to be gorey and ironic, with plenty of puns and word play.

The tv death scene, the wizard master attacked by his wheelchair, the super hero death, all of them so good

Thanks, Tom! You actually inspired me to use my real name--I read something you wrote about it awhile ago, and it made sense. I can't recall why I didn't just use my real name from the beginning.

The FRIDAY THE 13th movies are definitely a lot of funΒ - Despite their flaws, each movie has something unique in them which make them stand out. JASON LIVES has to be my absolute favorite of the series, just for it's comedic value and bloody good fun.
