in which Soul was trying to scare away some guys that were hassling Maka, but lost control (of his temper, hence losing control of his firebending), and accidentally burned her in the process.

He’s a powerful firebender, but is trying to learn how to control it, and after meeting Maka(On a trip to the water tribe), it’s becoming a lot easier because she is able to calm him. Her presence alone helps keep him in control (KINDOF LIKE HER ANTI-DEMON WAVELENGTH IN THE MANGA, EH??).
