the bg is stock from [link] cos i wanted to play instead of waiting for a flame to render LOL

yeah and it was so much fun!! I use layers in stuff too, of course, just never done much with layer *styles*. funny how dif ppl can take the same tut and create something totaly dif lol. thx for showing me !!

yep, what's even funnier is that two different
people can create the same sort of jewel doing
it each different ways.
in his jewel tut, he talks about the first few
layers being gradients , I still have a force of
habit using a solid colour , and adding a gradient
overlay

oops keep forgetting u have gimp.
but i see no reason it wouldnt work. all u hae to do is make gradients, fill selections, and use layer styles... wont gimp do all that?
