This is the kind of thing I'm doing for the course now.

I am reminded of that time, when I was sixteen, and I loved manga, and I wanted to be an artist. And I ran afoul of this art teacher, and the exact first thing he did was to forbid me from drawing manga. And his logic was that if I did manga, I "would not be able to draw in other styles".

He never liked anything I did, and would just look at my drawings and shake his head. He discouraged me so completely that I quit drawing for the next fifiteen years.

The man was a fucking idiot, of course. One of the many in my life who have hurt me.
