Nowadays, we just kinda take recycling for granted - sure, you drop your obsolete smartphone into one of those green kiosks at Walmart and you take it on faith that it gets turned into a Mountain Dew can or something. But back in the early '90s, America needed to be sold on the idea of turning its trash into treasure. Naturally, a forward-thinking New Ager like Denise would be the one to pound the pavement in her Birkenstocks and make sure all of Eden Prairie gets on board. Some people have an easier time grasping it than others, though.
