Description Looking through my cast of characters for my very '90s comic strip "Maxwell Silver Hammer", and having recently done a lot of research on the 1990s via my Disney Adventures collection, I realized that Katy's friend Amy really didn't look like she belonged in the decade. And no wonder, since I created her in 2007 when the strip was still intended to be contemporary, and I hadn't yet redesigned her to fit the strip's new timeline. So in the spirit of Clueless, I decided it was time for a makeover.

First of all, I changed her name, since it seemed too close to Abby's name - now she's Ashleigh Reo, and thanks to her revised character design, she definitely looks more like the 1990s fashion plate I created her to be. She's all flower hats and frilly skirts and muted colors, looking like she stepped right off the set of "Blossom". Here she is cruising Macy's with Katy, showing her the ins and outs of bargain hunting. It's a very special trip to the mall.

I've been watching the DVD sets of Dave's World and I can't believe I never paid attention to how horrible we dressed in the 90s. Even actors seemed to dress like they shopped at K-Mart during the 90s. Everyone was a freakin' grunge soccer mom back then, including the men. If it wasn't the soccer mom grunge look, it was the clubbing/raver look with all the 70s influenced baby doll T-shirts and dresses, boot cut jeans, platform shoes and sneakers and tons of PVC coats, skirts or pants (What was with our obsession with plastic clothes back then?).
Even when I watch Daria, I remember the time back in middle school when I used to dress exactly like Quinn.

I used to get Disney Adventures magazine as well. The first few years of them when they first started were the best.

So everything before this was a dream sequence? I'm liking the re-do sir - and the Blossom reference is perfect for her.

I don't remember anyone in the 90's looking that weird. The only person I saw wearing Blossom's hats was Blossom.

A very cool reworking of a character here. Suddenly makes me want to try out a '90's style wardrobe for a spell

That's a nicely done design. And the bargain price is pretty cute in itself, too.

It's very nice. I like the color, and the $19.92 sale price is a very neat touch.

Haha, I don't think I've ever seen a cartoon character with those kind of threads, but accurate they are and now I miss my childhood.
