We all know about adult Mario and Baby Mario, but we've never seen what Mario looked like as a kid or as a teenager. I'm sure other people have done this as well, but here's my take on Mario's preteen self! As a twelve year old, Mario's still in school, so I gave him a school uniform just for kicks, but he still retains his trademark hat (which as you can see by the fact that it covers his ears, is still too big for him)! His hair style is a bit more unruly and pokes out a bit in the front, mainly so he looks more youthful than adult Mario, who isn't too old either (according to the Japanese trophy description for Mario in Super Smash Bros. Melee, he is 26 years old); of course he doesn't have his trademark mustache either, so that alone would give a younger appearance, but again, I wanted to add a bit more differences from Baby Mario as well, which also explains the more defined eyes. You could say this design was working with a medium between Mario's baby and adult self, and if you ask me, I think it came out pretty well!

Just so you know, Kid Mario does have relevance to Super Mario JBX, as it plays a part to a personal headcanon that isn't confirmed by Nintendo , but is heavily influenced by series canon. After the Shroob invasion was stopped by the Mario Bros. adult and infant selves in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, the Mario Bros' mom (who I call Luana in my story) couldn't take the idea of her kids being placed in danger any longer (considering that they were kidnapped like three times before at this point), so she demanded the family move out of the Mushroom Kingdom. Mario and Luigi spend the remainder of their childhood and teenage years in Diamond City; Luana suggested they move there because it was mostly inhabited by humans (as she feels the bros. could relate better with their own kind) and had next to no monsters. Wario was already living in Diamond City at the time the bros. moved there, and was none too happy with how all of the other kids favored Mario over him, so they often found themselves competing against each other (which is what started their rivalry to begin with).

With all of that being said, I hope you all like my interpretation of Kid Mario!
