This could be the perfect explanation on how Mario and Wario know each other.

That was part of my intention with Kid Mario actually! The idea was inspired by how Mario himself mentions that he and Wario were rivals ever since they were kids in the introduction for Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins! I also wanted a way to incorporate Diamond City into the story more, since there might not be too much of this place shown off in the main story of Super Mario JBX.

Ah, it's in the instruction manual (or e-manual if you're playing the Virtual Console version); a lot of games in the "pre-Nintendo 64" era just went straight into the game when you start it up and cutscenes were a rarity. So if you wanted to know what the story was, you had to read the instructions first (especially when it came to NES games)!
I should let you know though, the cartoon series is non-canon to the games, so we can't really count that information. According to Mario Kart Arcade GP, Diamond City is the location of the Gadd Science, Inc. headquarters [as there is a racetrack in the game that takes place there], so we know it's part of Mario's world, but probably not within the Mushroom Kingdom's jurisdiction.
Interestingly enough though, in Super Mario Galaxy 2, World 2 looks an awful lot like the real world Solar System. But if that's true, then according to the icons on the world map [comparing World 1 and World 2] Mario's home planet is the size of our sun!

So Diamond City is really in the Mushroom World?! I find it unlikely since it's mostly populated by humans and humans are not so common in Mario games. Size of the sun? Well the Mushroom World is a vast place giving birth to many games, and who knows what we might find next. You also have to consider that there are other versions of his world like the Paper Mario series for example. Now that I think about it Diamond City being in the Mushroom World isn't so unlikely after all. Have you played the MK arcade games? I so wish I could play them but no good arcades in my town. =n=

There are a few games in the Mario series that feature human characters other than the main ones (those games being the Mario Golf & Mario Tennis RPG-style games and most notably the WarioWare, Inc. games, which is technically still a part of the overall Mario series).
I'm not 100% sure that Mushroom World is indeed that big, but that implication is pretty noteworthy if one takes the time to compare the two worlds on the World Map screen [of Super Mario Galaxy 2]. Of course, it might just be possible that Mushroom World is not only home to the Mario series exclusively; there are so many hints that Mushroom Kingdom and Hyrule exist in the same world (for example, Deku Babas look and act so much like Piranha Plants that they're pretty much a subspecies of them)! I'd go into further detail, but I have a lot to say about this topic, so it'd be better if I just write a journal about it later...
I have played Mario Kart Arcade GP before, it was pretty fun! But that was a long time ago, the place that had it was taken down a while back, so it's only a memory at the moment.. I haven't seen any arcades in my town either...

Oh yeah I forgot about those Mario Golf and Tennis games. Actually in Mario Tennis Power Tour, Mushoom World, aka Mario's World, is in the sky and the human live below it. So that creates a lot of speculation as well. Maybe, now just maybe, the planet you see below all the galaxies is Earth while Mario's World is somewhere in between the two. Though that's just theory. In case of Hyrule, well like I said the Mushroom World is a vast place so who knows. I know in those arcade games you could play Pacman. How was he? Looks like SSB4 isn't the first time Mario appears along side Pacman.

You mean like how it is in the Sonic the Hedgehog OVA movie? But yeah, I haven't seen enough evidence that proves that...
It wasn't often that I went to that arcade, so I chose Mario whenever I got to play the game; the Pac-Man characters did look pretty good though. Now I'm wondering if he'll be DLC for Mario Kart 8 just to pay homage to those games.

Rumor has it they're going to be making a third set of DLC pretty soon!

That would be awesome and it would be more awesome if Nintendo did the same for MK7!

We can only hope they do add something in Mario Kart 7; Nintendo didn't start making DLC until they made New Super Mario Bros. 2...

Hmmm... Well, at least it finished its run, rather than being cancelled; not a lot of cartoons make it long enough to reach that goal!
