Description I found a stock photo of an octopus awhile back, wanted to try and draw one. I did this in my Canson Mix Media book, with a Navy Blue and Sky Blue colored pencil. Also used a Black colored pencil and for the really Black I used the Jerry's Artarama Jumbo Jet Black pencil. Those pencils are pretty cool. I also used a tortillians/tissues for some blending. Thanks for coming by to check it out.Β

Incredible design and skills! I admire your steady line work so much, and you have a great handle on maintaining consistent line widths (something I can't seem to get). Those bubbles are perfect, seamlessly blended. Good job!

I like this one also. My hand got a little shaky as I got older, don't know why but it did. I am still getting better at my lines. I like the way the bubbles came out also. I was still polishing my blending skills when I did this one. Thanks for all the comments,

Yes, my hands are getting more and more shaky with age, as well. I think it's my wrists, too, from years of writing at the keyboard. I know I should use myΒ templates and French Curves more often to line, just to keep the consistency, but I guess I'm too lazy. I do still prefer the wispy, "dirty"Β pencil sketching, though; the curves I got specifically to ink cels. XD

Anyway, you're most welcome!

Sucks getting old eh, LOL. The wispy or dirty sketching is the way to go. It keeps the flow of the piece. If you sit there and try to draw it at first chance then you are always going to make mistakes (which I was doing). I just started recently doing the wispy/dirty sketching and I feel like I can get a better feel for the piece I am doing.

It does! XD I guess you just have to get used to the fact and adapt. And that's exactly what I like about the initial stages of sketching, the flow just has this feathery, peacefulness to it and allows you room to express and experiment, before setting the solid, strict lines in. So Zen!
