Description Still happily grazing, this bull of the Belgian blue race is a very strange sort of cow, I find. I even found the term "Schwarzenegger Super Cows": [link] It has its particular problems, we learned. See also the short Wikipedia article: [link]

I'm from Texas, we have a lot of cows there but I had never seen or heard of this breed before. Thank you so much for the Wikipedia link.

It is a gorgeous breed, & I hope they don't outlaw them, because of supreme beauty...but darn birthing cows only by cesarean birth must be costly for the farmer/rancher & pretty darn scary for the mother cow.

Like I say..you learn something new on dA everyday. This site continues to amaze me.

I am glad you found the info interesting. Some people just give pictures and not even the name of a place, but indeed backgrounds are often very interesting, too.

I hate where there are no comments & often feel like if you don't think it was worth saying anything, then why should I....besides it's just nice to know the reason behind a photo/ painting or even what one is looking at (sometimes this is not easily identifiable). Plus I just love the details & the stories that come with many photos.

I had never heard of or seen a Belgium Blue Bull before, they are magnificent...Makes me wish i was still taking sculpturing classes cause they have great artistic form.

I've seen these animals live a few years back. Didn't have a camera then, but now I really remember...how...not very nice looking they are... Nevertheless: Nice shot! Comp-wise!

That's er... a lot of beef. I've never seen anything like it - a very apt title! He looks so placid grazing in the pale blue sky and rich meadow there, but I don't know how you dared to get anywhere near him to take such a good photo, unless you have a very good zoom on your camera..!

jchanders In reply to ToySkunk [2007-05-23 12:58:34 +0000 UTC]

Well, he was pretty far away here. Your remark tempted me to submit another shot, taken even a bit more closely (but also with zooming in a bit more). Please take a look and shiver ...
