Description
This is an N Gauge model of the LNWR Crampton locomotive ‘Liverpool’ – in her day claimed to be the most powerful engine in the world. Britain’s only 6-2-0, built in 1848 as an answer to record-breaking GWR broad gauge engines, she was exhibited at the famous 1851 ‘Great Exhibition’ (winning a medal) but owing to reported track damage was largely in storage at Camden until ‘rebuilt’ into a more standard 0-6-0 at Wolverton in 1859. Nonetheless it was a notable step in locomotive development and the largest of the once-popular Crampton type of design.Now available as a kit from www.shapeways.com/shops/newman…
