I did find the webpage you mentioned...I've come across it before, so I probably read this story before. And I've got to say, from giving it another quick read...I have to be really honest and say this is among the weaker pieces of Raccoons fanfiction I've come across, unfortunately. It's a good idea on paper, but I don't think the writer pulled it off very well. In particular, this character, Renee, is very...flat, and that's what I think hurt this story the most for me. The idea of another woman competing with Lisa for Bert's affections is a very interesting one...but Renee barely gets any characterization at all in the story. About all we learn about her is that she seems to be polite, dresses a little provocatively, and is shown to be a little flirtatious...and that's really it. I got the feeling from reading the story that the writer wanted the readers to dislike her merely because she's a rival for Bert's affections...which (to me at least) isn't enough for me to dislike a character. I think the story might have went better if Renee were given more characterization and the writer gave more reasons for us to actually want to pull for Lisa to get Bert at the auction over her (like, for example, perhaps she had something bad in store for Bert if she won him)...
Also, recycling the whole bachelor auction idea does seem more than a little lazy, but maybe that's just me. Overall, though...it's not a terrible story, but overall...I just didn't think it was all that good. Could have been a lot better than it actually was...but oh well, it's an old fanfic anyways. I will say, the artist who originally drew this scene based on it did a very good job!
