Description In 1941-42 The naval yards in Sevestapol built 7 armoured trains of a similar but not entirely uniform pattern to act as mobile artillery and air defense batteries tasked with defending the port cities and naval installations.

They were constructed using Warship armour plating and used 76mm universal naval guns 34K mounts or older equivalents (essentially whatever was available for the task)
These Armoured Trains are immediately identifiable by the gun shields and long barrels of the gun mounts and the sailors uniforms worn by the crew.

In addition to Artillery Shelling and shooting at aircraft, They could also also carry troops and supplies to endangered areas and often did as well as effect track repairs.

They sallied forth from tunnels built for the purpose and used cuts in rock and other geography as part of their protection. This is how Armoured Train “Zheleznyakov” evaded destruction during the siege of Svestapol for 6 months before it’s tunnel was finally collapsed in a massive bombing raid.
