Description
How the storms sweep away the halcyon breezes!
How the black clouds rise from smoldering, towering, tumbling ruins,
The breath of a dragon once long-dormant in forgotten Bactria.
The blood of many cries for vengeance, splattered like
Ketchup on "freedom fries," across the choking, ashen craters,
Red as the stripes of the flag hoisted over it in the aftermath.
The veil is torn from the faces of the children
Born as the Evil Empire breathed its last,
Who stand blinking, disbelieving in the glaring light of stark reality.
Death has descended upon the invincible,
Shattered the untouchable columns of commerce,
Snuffed out a decade of tranquility
So this is how the millennium begins,
Dawning in ash, fire, and the clash of civilizations.
