Great idea and execution. In many ways I agree, most hip hop these days is terrible. I used to be all about hip hop, it was my career path for a number of years, until I slowly over time realized how much I hated what it was becoming and how much I hated the way the industry works. Just wasnt for me. I still like to mess around with some samples from time to time though creating some nice loops.

Anyway, good job here. I like the perspective and composition.

cool shot, i like the concept of this one. i agree with you. 50 Cent and all those "rappers" that are on top of the charts right now aren't doing anything to help the art form prosper. i think there will eventually be a turn in the tide though and people will be very anti-pop within the hip-hop community. at least i hope that happens...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

jeej83 In reply to dev-IAN-t [2005-05-30 06:47:45 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. Well the true hip-hop fans are already that way inclined, but there's no denying how popular the "hip-pop" side of things is. You really cant get much more exposure than being top chart material. It's the way it's marketed.

Hip-Hop will never die. Not if any of the old-school greats or new school and underground geniuses have anything to say about it...

I feel your pain, though...

Thanks man. Yeah I know it wont die, was just more a vent at the 50 Cent's and Ja Rule's of this world.

droolz In reply to jeej83 [2005-05-29 13:35:31 +0000 UTC]

jeej83 In reply to droolz [2005-05-29 13:41:18 +0000 UTC]

In an interview someone asked Ja Rule bout the breaks used in his records, he didn't know what a 'break' was and was therefore totally bamboozled by the question - fool! Doesn't even know how his own records are made!

*just wanted to add that I loved the effect and meaning... broken record on the concrete, being rained upon, long forgotten... i love it...
