Too soon a statistic, dead on the streetswith only their blood ebbing toward their failed dreams
Dreams used to escape reality
Dreams too high for even angels to reach
Evil personified...
since birth, being told lies
how can you blame them
havin' red and blue throwin' up signs
those are their only idols and heroes
speakin' like those
who have forfeited there souls
heading down roads of destruction
Society's hands so stained with the crimson liquid of life
but remember we are society.
let us not hide our blood stained hands
but instead work towards the future
a future where our children's hands are clean

Although I live in Minnesota I read the L.A. Times every day (L.A. Now, actually) because as a truck driver I was in L.A. often, before April '92 and after. The city has never really let me go since. I've walked the streets downtown, been in the old bus station (in '85), spent a night at the Hotel Cecil. Your poem, and your anecdote about the kids on the bus - that's so L.A. to me, sadly. There's a lot more to the city of course, but you voice the lost dreams of the lost angels very well.

I'm new to LA this happened in the Bay Area, but no matter where we are I think this rings true... racist rednecks, KKK, drunks, druggies, wife beaters... the list goes on, none of these people should be seen as a role-model but far too often too many are...

Oh, okay. I've been around the Bay Area too, mostly San Jose and up the east side to Vallejo and beyond. Sadly yes, it happens everywhere, all around the world. Children suffer the most, losing their innocence young - if they ever had the chance to be innocent to begin with.

mmhm. Very sad, this world has so mant great things but all theΒ bad comes to the fore front. Wish it was different, but utopia is impossible, even so it's up to ppl like us to do our best to make the world a better place.

true it is up to us... we can only make our surroundings better but if everyone does their part it won't be for not...
Β there are great things and/or people in this world... so we, as people need to make our little part of our world more bearable for us, those we love and future generations...
