Description This was done by request.

In the show "Avatar: The Last Airbender", there is a waterbending scroll. This inspired me to do other scrolls:

Firebending Scroll: [link]

Airbending Scroll: [link]

Earthbending Scroll: [link]

People liked my scrolls so much, that people wanted me to do another. So I made this Waterbending Scroll Two. I did this for 3 reasons: The first waterbending scroll says "First form" on the side in Chinese, which implies a second one. My first Waterbending scroll is the only one I did that is just a trace of the original so I wanted to make an original one like I did the others. And lastly, in the beginning of the second season Aang gets other waterbending scrolls that we never see, and it would be fun to see what one might look like.

All moves on the scrolls are based on observations of actual moves from the show.

I made this scroll more detailed then the others I did, after observing the scroll in more detail. It is shown in more detail in the newly released book "Avatar the Last Airbender, the Art of the Animated Series"

Tools: pencil, Ink, Paint, Brush, Parchment Paper, and a small bit of photoshop editing.

This one I used real parchment paper, and real paint.  First I took parchment paper, and used pencil to see where everything should be and how it should look.  Thank I used black and blue acrylic paint.  I actually enjoyed using this traditional method.  Too much looking at a screen and you loose touch with the original genuine brush and the way it should look.

That's awesome man. I love water. I'm gonna steal it and use it as my cover photo, lol. May I?

Yes, of course   I was kidding about "stealing" it. But your artwork is very interesting and I'd like to share it with friends. I will put a link back to your profile.

Thank you.  No markers were used on this one, only real paint.  I think it made it much more detailed in appearance.

hey jeffrey scott, your scrolls are great. Can you make a Southern Style of Waterbending, The Foggy Swamp Style and the Northern Style. Please.

Hey, I really love all these scrolls! But have you any idea how to waterbend ice/icebend/freeze water? I haven't watched all the anime yet, but I've seen Katara do it in one of the first episodes.

Jeffrey-Scott In reply to SilverSoul1998 [2013-09-28 07:21:46 +0000 UTC]

She breaths out with a blow, while waterbending. I do think there are some specific ice bending techniques that waterbenders do.  I could make a scroll of them someday.

Your scrolls are just SO amazing GAH \(*T▽T*)/
And good job on the chinese characters, though I'm not sure if the word "水波" really exists- people normally use “波浪” for waves but idk, it's a personal choice when naming stuff. Great job! (✿ ♥‿♥)

Jeffrey-Scott In reply to Vali-wa [2012-11-20 05:48:24 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. And I'm glad you noticed that detail, many people don't. Actually the move is called "water wave" not just wave. Though I can't say that I am an expert in Chinese, but I did study the language and I appreciate its subtleties and history a great deal.

NICE!! I think Katara and Aang used that scroll.

Jeffrey-Scott In reply to ArtySpartyGirl [2012-08-14 00:58:42 +0000 UTC]

Yes, that is the idea. I painted it to look like a scroll that they would have used. Even though this one was never shown in the show.

This kind of paper does very nicely:

There are all kinds of parchment paper at Staples, if there are any in your area. Pick the one that suits you most.

Do you do commissions? I'm making an Avatar game and I could use scrolls like this. Also, do you use Sharpies or some other kind of pen? And how long do they take to make? Are they easy? lol

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Jeffrey-Scott In reply to skarrj [2012-04-07 02:05:52 +0000 UTC]

What kind of commission are you referring to? With this waterbending scroll 2 I used paint, which I think really improved the quality over the other ones (the others I used a standard marker). A bending scroll can take 8 to 12 hours to make (so I usually do it over a weeks time).

Jeffrey-Scott In reply to owenp10 [2012-03-12 05:19:09 +0000 UTC]

I am surprised no one has asked this yet, it says in Chinese "Waterbending drill second form" and on the right it says "Water wave leap".

The only thing I would critique is that Katara explains that the hands of the octopus form should be close to your center.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Jeffrey-Scott In reply to thelostleveret [2011-03-02 15:31:05 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I think she does. But I think she is referring to the formation of it in the beginning not the outstretching of the arms. I copied the look from the show when drawing each of the poses.

I love this!!! Pretty Please make more!!

you know i was wondering how come they dont make a link between the avatar and the regular bender, like one person who knows 3 elements, and then one person who knows 2. . . . that would be so cool!

Jeffrey-Scott In reply to Bluejay15 [2011-02-01 21:39:56 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. Maybe I will make more in the future. Perhaps when Avatar Legend of Korra comes out it will inspire me to do more. I Did 5 original Bending Scrolls, and you have to admit, considering how long it takes to do them, it is a lot.
