Description History
In late 1899 the london and western was looking for new engine for North end branchline outside Manchester as the workload was increasing with passengers along with holiday traffic, so a design was picked a 0-4-4t dating back to 1879 along with modern updates and push pull gear  the class of planned of 6 will be built. So in early 1900 the plans were sent out to Derby works only 4 were built as the company was tight on money at the time. The class sent to the branch to start work only that the crews disliked them cleaning out the firebox was pain, cramped cab,and how touche when starting a heavy train. Other the problems the class in service were very good pulling 4 coach trains with ease and if need bank or shunt around the yard. The G1s worked an easy life only to end in 1922 they were withdrawn from the branch and sent to Derby to be scrapped by the LMS in next Year
