Description History 
In 1905, the Eastern Logging company was looking for two new locomotives to haul logs to the exchange sidings to meet the New Zealand railway, the company wanted a large locomotive to do this job and import so they looked at 3 truck Shays ,Climax , and Heisler but they were not keen so they look at a large mainline locomotive and placed an order of 4 engines to Baldwin and Lima but only the Baldwins were produced as they were tank engines with an oil burning fireboxes and small oil tank and spark arresters to prevent fires. The line was bought by the Government and the crews called these engines Loggers but in 1950, the locos were retired from service and scrapped
