Description

Cause ninjas are dang cool.

25. Naruto Uzumati (Naruto) Adolescence is never easy If you follow Shonen Jump's fan-favorite character polls, Naruto actually isn't the most popular character in his own series most of the time. How can you gain respect when your body is the prison of a ferocious demon and everyone in your village knows it. Still, courageous, slightly knuckleheaded Naruto is determined to earn the love of his town by becoming its most powerful ninja. He's the engine that powers the franchise, though, that's pretty hard to argue against. Naruto's like a bouncing orange perpetual motion machine – just wind him up a touch and he goes.

24. Haru (Beverly Hills Ninja) Haru deserves a spot on this list because he showed us that there is more to being a ninja than having all the right moves and being able to blend into the shadows. But he’s a heavy dude so stealth won’t be his strongest factor Chris Farley lived just long enough to make some classic films that we will be enjoying for centuries to come.

23. Yuffie (Final Fantasy 7) Yuffie is a teenage ninja who is a secret, optional character in Final Fantasy VII. She's got a cocky, brash, and slightly abrasive personality, but she's also a compassionate person with an impressive goal. Yuffie's homeland of Wutai has been turned into a tourist attraction by the Shinra Corporation, and she aims to gain the power to drive Shinra out and restore Wutai to its former glory. Throughout Final Fantasy VII and its various spin-offs, Yuffie serves as both comic relief and unlikely hero, a seemingly self-centered sneak thief who always does the right thing in the end.

22. Goemon (Mystical Ninja): Nothing says Ninja then Honor based on Ishikawa Goemon, an infamous outlaw in 16th century Japan, he is a hot-blooded man of Edo. With a strong sense of justice and will, he will right whatever wrong there is in front of him, although he has a short temper. Goemon primarily uses a variety of smoking pipes as his weapon of choice, in his crusade to fight evil.

21 Kasumi (Dead or Alive) Beautiful and dangerous, this teenage female ninja, or Kunoichi sex symbol, if you prefer, is a member of the Mugen Tenshin Ninja clan. The main protagonist of the tournament series, her mission is to avenge the death of her older brother by killing his murderer in a competitive tournament…obviously! As this vendetta made her a runaway, she has been labeled a traitor; she must also battle her former clan…while looking good 24/7.

20. Zen Intergalatic Ninja (Zen Intergalactic Ninja): Mercenary The environmentally friendly leader of a rag tag band of recycled heroes, what ever you want to call him Zen kicks ass. Raised in a test tube as part of a failed science experiment, Zen was raised by the mysterious masters of Om who traineds a master fighter, and knowledgeable in all forms of hand-to-hand combat. Zen also communicates through a unique type of telepathy that nobody truly understands. He is able to simply "talk" into your head, allowing you to hear him as though he was simply speaking out loud. When you speak back to him, he "hears" you though a combination of sound waves and thought patterns that he takes in as language and sound. He’s been in an NES game and he’s got his own short lived Action Figure line, and all and all Zen still manages to find a place in our hearts as one of the great underrated comic book heroes.

19. Guy (Final Fight) Guy is a lightning-fast addition originally from the Final Fight series. He was part of the initial cross between the series in Street Fighter Alpha and showed up most recently in Super Street Fighter IV. Players that master Guy's ninjitsu can easily overwhelm opponents. He's one of the only characters that can knock an opponent into the air and rush over and catch them before they hit the ground. That's got to count for something. When you think about it, maybe those dull, unassuming looks work in his favor. He doesn't look especially dangerous until it's too late.

18. Mai Shiranui (Fatal Fury/King of Fighters) So which set round objects in this picture are bigger? Mai's signature outfit is about as low-cut as it could get without some serious rating problems popping up (or out). The female fighter has been called the Chun-Li of the SNK universe, She fights with a Japanese fan (like Mortal Kombat's Kitana) and she also utilizes fire from whatever is in the back of her when she fights, she also has some powerful kicks and even uses her rolling attacks. But what puts Mai on this particular list is her looks and somewhat her personality, She also likes to dress in prety Kimonos (even when she wins the fight, she magically dones on a Kimono). Though, Mai is smitten with Terry Bogard's brother Andy.

17. Knives Cho (Scott Pilgrim VS The World) a 17-year-old (18-year-old in Volume 6) Half Chinese-Canadian high school girl and self-described "Scottaholic" (though she later gets over him). Despite the fact Doesn't speak or understand Chinese Has a variety of ninja skills at her disposal. Knives can throw, well exploding knives and a wicked spin kick.

16. Elektra (Marvel) Once upon a time The term “Greek Ninja” sounded like an oxymoron.  That is until Miss Nachious came on the scene, Stealing Daredevil heart while trying to balance her mercenary life style before dying and coming back to life and die again just like every character in the Dragonball saga and Kenny Mcormick on South Park.

15. Gray Fox (Metal Gear Solid) This Guy was former FOXHOUND member and Big Boss' most loyal soldier; Gray Fox was also known as Frank Jaeger. this character not only brought us some of the single greatest moments in video game history, but is by far the epitome of cool. Though the character was born in the NES originals, it wasn’t until the release of 1998’s Metal Gear Solid that Grey Fox first donned the now-legendary Cyborg Ninja suit and stealthy sliced his way into our hearts. An original agent of FOXHOUND gone rogue, Gray Fox has seen it all. He terrified us. He beat us. He helped us. And he definitely left his mark as one of the coolest ninjas in history.

14. Lady Shiva (DC Comics) Sandra Woosan, aka Sandra Wu-San, aka Lady Shiva, is one of the deadliest martial artists on the DC Comics universe. Striding the line between good and evil, she has been seen acting as both protagonist and antagonist, and she’s frequently connected to Batman and his enemies and allies in Gotham City. Lady Shiva has shared her ninja brilliance with other characters, having trained the likes of Black Canary, Tim Drake, and even Batman himself after his back-breaking encounter with Bane. Reintroduced in Batman: Arkham Origins as one of the 8 assassins hired by the Black Mask to kill Batman many opponents underestimate Lady Shiva and end up make it the last deadly mistake of the lives.

13. Smoke (Mortal Kombat) the first guy from the MK series to be on this list and trust me their lurking out there. You might've spotted this dark, mysterious man popping out from behind trees in the Living Forest while playing MKII. Smoke was a ninja assassin for the Lin Kuei Clan and was friends with Sub-Zero. Unlike most of the ninjas in the MK franchise Smoke was both a ninja and a robot, that’s right He started out human then was robotized by his own clan and was sent to terminate Subzero but rebelled. Smoke can Teleport through a loud of smoke he’s got a spear. Got he’ll literally smoke you out.

12. Kage Maru (Virtua Fighter) Kage-Maru represents the ‘spiritual’ side to the ninja – honourable, stoic, silent… and boring. For all his quiet nobility, we find it hard to take Kage-Maru seriously with that ridiculous Richard Garriott headband. No wonder his opponents are always kicking it off – they’re trying to do him a favour! oh and he had to beat up is mom who was a cyborg at the time.

11. Shredder (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) One half of one of the best cartoon villain duos of all time Oroku Saki, AKA The Shredder is the arch-nemesis of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and their rat-master Splinter. A master in the art of Ninjutsu, Shredder is the leader of the Foot Clan, a fearsome group of warriors and assassins involved in organized crime. Where he's the deadly and serious foe from the original Mirage comics, The evil but incompetent, Saturday Morning Buffoon from the 1987 Cartoon the badass from the first two movies, the power-mad and blood thirsty space monster from the 2k3 series or the scarred vengeful fiend  from the 2k12 series Shredder is as important to the franchise as the green shell-headed that constantly thwart him  and when he is on the scene, you know some epic spit is about to go down.

10 Taki (Souledge/Soulcalibur)  Female ninjas rule our school. They're quick, efficient, and super-deadly. But none are more skilled and noble then the noble warrior with a shining spirit and stunning beauty that is Taki. Taki is very adventurous and has helped many warriors on her journey to find the demonic weapon known as "Soul Edge" and destroy it. There are many women worth mentioning in the Soul Calibur series, but if anyone really knows how to handle the likes of Link, Kratos Spawn, Darth Vader, Yoda and the Apprentice, it's Taki"

9. Psylocke (Marvel/Marvel VS Capcom) In a somewhat inexplicable comic-book moment, Betsy's consciousness was merged with another to create the Psylocke we know today. She is, as can best be described, a psionic assassin, though she is reluctant to kill. You might say she is like Elizabeth Hurley but with the high-energy danger and ninja esque moves of a Jackie Chan Movie. Not to mention the new age Rogue, a character given a new twist by merging memories and powers with another. Psylocke is a born leader and, in fact, briefly lead the X-Men. Fighting alongside the likes of Gambit, Cyclops Phoniex Archangel, and my two make her one of the most potent fighters to ever wear the X.

8. Joe Musashi (Shinobi) This classic arcade ninja sports a traditional look, a violent fury and pure intentions, as his first game took him on a quest to rescue the abducted children of his clan from a criminal organization. An iconic ninja, he makes use of Shuriken, throwing knives and his trusty sword, Hazy Moon, which he can charge up. Joe also possesses deadly skill techniques and ninja spells, making him certifiably badass.

7. Storm Shadow (G.I. Joe) Thomas Arashikage, better known by his Cobra codename of Storm Shadow, is the pinnacle of ninja ability and the character who introduced the ninja ways to a generation of fans who mostly like to route for the bad guys. Blood brother to Joe agent Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow works as an assassin, as well as bodyguard to the Cobra Commander. Skilled in sabotage and intelligence, he most frequently employs swords and archery to meet his vile goals.

6. Sub Zero (Mortal Kombat) Descending from ice-powered Outlanders called Cryomancers, Sub-Zero is actually two ninjas who compete in the Mortal Kombat martial arts tournaments. Born on Earth, the Sub-Zero brothers wield the freezing powers of their ancestors, But the eldest was killed in the first and have risen to create one of the most popular ninja characters in the history of video gaming. Did I mention he has the best finisher in the series.

5. Strider Hiyru (Strider) He is the youngest of a team of top ranked high-tech ninjas called Striders. An expert in espionage, sabotage and assassination, Strider Hiryu is tasked with taking down a mysterious dictator who has taken control of the entire world in the year 2048. He also wields the Cypher, a plasma-generating broadsword capable of cutting through anything. Strider Hiryu can also chain, robotic animal helpers that he can summon at will. Having obtained A-Class status at a young age, he is the organization's best assassin.

4. The Ninja Turtles (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) When These four pizza-loving heroes in a half shell havefirst arrived on the cartoon scene in the 1980's, from the Comic book beginnings nobody could have guessed that these guys would become the quintessential American ninjas. The TMNT are ridiculous in concept but somehow pretty darn awesome in practice, silly slogans and all.Named after Renaissance artists Michelangelo, Leonardo, Donatello, and Raphael have left a lasting mark on US culture, and are probably responsible for a lot of the popularity of ninjas in North America today. Cowabunga

3. Ryu Haybusa (Ninja Gaiden) You where expecting him to be any hire right, But this is my list and Ryu has been on the no. 1 spot in every one's top 10 favorite ninja's list. Anywhay Ryu Hayabusa The son of the leader of the Dragon Ninja Clan, Sporting his falcon outfit and the dragon sword, he is the special ops of Ninjas, ruthlessly eviscerating his enemies. Originally on a quest for vengeance, he has since battled the supernatural and upped the bloodshed to never before seen heights. A timeless icon of gaming, Ryu has been slicing his way into the hearts of gamers for decades. A noble and honorable ninja, Ryu carries an ancestral blood curse that descends from the Fiends of Vigoor. At times crossing paths with Ayane and her Mugen Tenshin Clan, Ryu has transcended his own Ninja Gaiden video game series to appear in the Dead or Alive games as well.

2. Scorpion (Mortal Kombat) Get over here!" That battle cry is recognizable by anyone who has stepped into an arcade in the last fifteen years as the special move sound of the evil zombie ninja Scorpion, who proves that tough guys do indeed wear banana yellow. Formerly a human ninja, Scorpion faced Sub-Zero in a battle over a mysterious map and was decapitated by the icy warrior. But death is just the beginning in Mortal Kombat, and Scorpion was resurrected as a revenant with a bad attitude, capable of teleporting and throwing brutal grappling hooks. Out for revenge, he slew Sub-Zero at the end of the first MK tournament before returning to the Otherworld. But that wasn't the end of Scorpion, as he's returned in almost every other MK game since, with meaner moves and more attitude, even beat up DC's big guns in Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe and Injustice Gods among us. His signature Fatality, where he removes his mask and immolates his foes with fiery breath, is one of our all-time faves.

1 Snake Eyes (G.I.Joe) Do I even have to tell you way the Joes man in black is the greatest ninja of all time? Snake Eyes is the epitamy of what a true level E-7 Army Sergeant 1st class is all about. In 1980 a new breed of fighting force took on a mission, and it all got to be seen by the American viewing public on a daily after-school basis. Unable to express himself in words, due to a horrible war mishap, he turned inwards instead and transformed himself into one of the deadliest ninjas ever seen, a martial artist and battle scarred warrior who fights like the ultimate solder in the never ending war against terrorism. Along with his loyal companion Timber the arctic wolf, coupled with his vast Ninja background and his wide arsenal of weapons, you could safely say it was pretty much game over for any would be foe. Extremely cunning and silent, but yet would chuck a grenade at ya with no hesitation, if the mood caught him right. Truly the greatest ninja of all time. F#(%K Yeah

Damn dude

You have a good taste in fictional ninjas. You instantly won me over when I saw Gray Fox, Strider Hiryu, Ryu Hayabusa, Snake Eyes, Taki, Scorpion, Kasumi, Elektra, Psylocke, Joe Musashi, Sub-Zero, and a couple others on the list.

I'm glad you included Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Smoke, and Psylocke, to name a few. List is so awesome. Psylocke, for example, is so hot, I enjoy staring at her butt. Sexy.

Naruto has to be the saddest excuse of a ninja ever. He doesn't even know what stealth is.

Naruto is actually just a few steps shy of that title. At least Naruto doesn't use a cell phone (like Ibuki from Street Fighter 3 does).

I've never seen Ibuki with a cellphone in Street Fighter 3. People in 1997-1999 did not have cellphones.
