When we first started getting those little spoilers a while back, there was that scene with Rey falling off the cliff. Many people, myself included, speculate that Rey doesn't know how to swim, having grown up on a desert planet.
Perhaps, Kylo Ren arrives on the island, a fight ensues, and Rey somehow gets knocked off the cliff. At first, Kylo shrugs it off and turns to face his other opponent, Luke. However, his old master looks distraught, so Kylo taunts him about being over protective of his new apprentice. Luke proclaims, "Fool! She was raised on a DESERT PLANET!" It takes only a moment for his meaning to sink in, and in the next moment, Kylo shuts off his saber, tucks it away, and promptly jumps into the abyss after the girl who’d stolen his heart, agonizing that he may have already killed her.
Guess we'll see how it goes in the movie c;
