for this piece i decided not to ink in the drawing and went on to paint it directly instead. i remember my professor saying that he didnt like using ink with watercolor, and he always reprimanded us for using the whites and blacks of our watercolor xD he said we're not supposed to use them for shadows (black) and highlights (whites). instead, we were supposed to use the white of the paper for highlights, and paint everything in layers, and that we should use layering to put in shadows.

lately i've taken a liking to mixing yellows/oranges (for highlights) and purples (for shadows) into the main color. it somehow adds a little bit of contrast and makes the colors pop out xD

then later i used pencil to add more detail. i was supposed to use color pencils until i found out i didnt have any =___=

but it was difficult when it came to the uploading part, because the lead of the pencil reflected the light and it looked horrible on my camera. i had to dig up our old printer/scanner (AND PRAY SO HARD THAT IT WOULD WORK) so that i could produce a better digital copy xD so glad that it worked @_@ and i am happy with the outcome.
