Happy season 3 everyone!Since the season premier, I've seen a lot of fan art of Twilight Sparkle with glowing green eyes.
I've yet to find any of Celestia using dark magic though, and I thought that was pretty cool. So here!
Sorry my digital painting is so messy, I'm trying to improve, jajaja

I imagine the overuse of dark magic to be sort of reminiscent to Soul Eater where it can drive someone crazy and corrupt. Especially if one is inexperienced with it (coughTwilightcough....).

Truly incredible!
When I saw this scene I was surprised and scared at the same time. To see Celestia use dark magic(or as I call it devil magic) at pure will was unexpected. Also it made her a bit more morally ambiguous.
Speaking on the drawing I love the colors you used. The dark purple resonating from Celestia's green eyes makes her very creepy.
And the black background makes this even more somber, scarier and sader. Good job!

My headcanon is that dark magic is a somewhat normal form of unicorn magic, and can be learned by any unicorn, but can only be used frequently by alicorns. Normal unicorns- or god help them, earth unicorns- can only use it occasionally, as using it too often can corrupt them.

If it's turned into a Red Supergiant, it'd explode into a supernova, and slowly shrinks, making its mass so huge (when compressed by the force of gravity) that it busts a "hole" through the "blanket" of space, therefore creating a black hole.
Sometimes it freezes from the sheer cold of space (Unknown if fragments of the sun or just the sun itself) that it turns into a rapidly rotating neutron star.
No need to say what kind of sun it is.
