At first, I was all "Who the BLOODY HELL are you?!", but then I saw the expression; THERE's the Hiccup that I know and love (not like Jack does, though; just as a friend on my side)!!

I am not a good judge of "hotness" and I don't go fangirl on characters, but I do think Hiccup has become much more mature. Look at Toothless and Hiccup's armor in the trailer, you can see some scars on Toothless' ear flap and slash marks on the armor. This suggests that both have seen battle with humans as well as rogue dragons.

hmm yeah but i think he made his father proud before when he defeated the dragon at the end (can't remember the dragon's name) and lost his foot because of that

Yeah, but in the TV show, Stoick told Hiccup he wasn't a man yet, which now, he is.
Also in the show, both Snotlout and Dagur the Deranged call the dragon the Red Death. (To the nitpickers: I know the books and the soundtrack say GREEN Death, but this is what they call it now.)
