Description This is another one of my pieces for my Obsessions 100 Themes Challenge - specifically, this is my version of 'Obsession'. Yes - I am ashamedly obsessed with this actor, who has (of course) played the 10th Doctor on Doctor Who, has played a truly amazing Hamlet, and has starred in many BBC TV mini-series, most of which have been breathtaking.

This was done on A4 Bristol paper with a LOT of 9B, some 7B, 6B, 2B and 2H. It took me many hours - probably 17 or 18 - I made myself put it down after a couple of hours everyday to give my eyeballs a rest so I could look at it fresh the next day... which was harder for me than it should've been!

At any rate - here it is!!! Hope you like it!

P.S. - I own a Dalek pen, but I don't own the BBC or any of it's shows or characters.

Amazing. Stunning. My jaw dropped when I saw this in my inbox.

Was so devastated when Tennant left Doctor Who, and this is a perfect likeness. I almost thought this was a photograph it's so good. And the creases in his hands is so impressive, I hear that's the most difficult thing to get right in a portrait.

My only critique would be that his hair seems a little "stringy" or "flat" along his hairline. Maybe a little more shadowing like you did under his chin would make it have more depth? Just a thought.

Well done and all in pencil! Incredible! Gives me goosebumps just seeing that stare. Allons-y!

Beautiful work! I'm impressed you used the softer graphite, particularly the 9B! I actually have a 9XXB, the softest and blackest in the spectrum of graphite. It's so much fun to use. Anyway, you did a great job on Tennant. You really took a great deal of care in the detail. Almost looks like a photograph!

nice work i love the darkness in fact its my weakness i tend to splash so much dark around and forget to leave cracks for the light to get through but enough about that......I would however like to say one thing and hope you don't take it the wrong way....I Have only been drawing people for about 2months now i would say and alot of the time my pics came out the same as what i am about to say to you.....so here goes i think when you draw the eyes of anyone the best tip that i have been given is to draw a large circle with a template then put a cross through the middle of it to find the center then use another template to do the pupils this way the eyeballs themselves are the same size and shape .......in saying that i think this is a fantastic drawing and will add it to my faves 9B pencils rock the socks off an ox
