homestuck has helped me become a better artist. during this exercise, i was working a lot on different facial structures. notice how a lot of things, especially anime, has a "face sticker" or sorts, where the main facial features (eyes, nose, mouth) look like they were stamped onto a blank all-fitting face, without any regard to the different muscle structures that different faces have. sort of a "one head fits all" deal. i do that with my drawings too, so i am trying to work on it. the trolls lend themselves very well to exaggerated facial features and structures. for example, i gave eridan a sharper face with visible cheekbones, very BBC-sherlock-esque. equius has a "marvel superhero" type face. feferi has a small, cute face. also other attributes to character that are less generalized, but i felt like they should have.
so PLEASE tell me what you think of this! i would like to know what people think of the changes!
also, ask me if you would like anything explained. it would be quite time consuming and pointless to explain everything, and i would probably miss something anyway.
and if you look, you can see the ghosts of images on the next page (this is in a ringed sketchbook).
