Description So... clearly this is the result of rain/water run off. It just occurred to me, as I was thinking of something to say about the lack of maintaining these public trees, that it would be a sign of a number of things going right. People who cared, enough money to upkeep the trees, and very good government management.

The city or neighborhood, depending how large, would need a dedicated staff of gardeners. Most would scoff at the notion. But if the flow of money into the government was managed better, all around. From the method & means of collecting money, to how it is spent, and then there being more than a few people who would think of putting forth the bill and having support for it, then we would have city gardeners who actually made rounds to the trees and small green spaces after they are first planted.

It's all inspiring when you seen a truck of new trees show up on the block and then they get planted, but then that's it. Not a soul will come back to tend that tree until it's 10+ years old and is in danger of taking out the power lines. If it lives that long. Not every tree that get's planted lives and no one comes back for those.

This tree managed to grow tall and strong, but that is in the face of the odds. Or maybe it was better tended to in it's younger years.
