Well, whaddaya know? I had time to draw Olivia for her birthday after all!

Granted, this probably means I'll have to sacrifice the drawing I had wanted to make tomorrow for OC August in favor of something simpler...but Olivia's just so cute and underappreciated that I felt she needed the love too.

So, yeah. Olivia's a Pop'n Music character who's stuck around since the very first game in the series though she was never one of the most popular ones; she hasn't even gotten a song since Pop'n Music 12, and it was console-exclusive as well. She didn't even get new sprites for that song...Olivia desperately needs to make a comeback, she's really beautiful and has some nice relaxing tropical songs. Apparently she's Jamaican according to her official info, and she's described as big-hearted and kind. (Though the background photo of this image was taken in Malaysia ) Mangoes are her favorite food! I really like her curly hair as it reminds me of my own.

Sometimes I feel as if I'm the only one who even cares about Olivia to be rather honest. I...honestly have never seen any fan art of her (though I believe has drawn her before IIRC) prior to last year, so I pretty much took it upon myself to draw her more. Back when I first discovered Pop'n in 2010-2011 she was one of my favorites; I definitely had a "Olivia week", perhaps multiple of them. I would imagine that she was a friend of mine, and I'd pretend to go to the beach or the ocean with her. With her simple design she was easy and quick to draw.

I've also been trying to experiment more with the idea of combining stock photos with my own painting so that they seamlessly blend in in my pictures; I did so for the background of this one. I painted about half of the sand as well as Olivia's shadow. How does it look?

I'm really going to try to get some more OC-related stuff in soon this month as well! I might draw Olivia in her other outfit or with one of her other color palettes soon too, but I don't know...
