A.k.a. 'No sleep for 24 hours and counting: The sequel'. This was done in July 2014. (the title is an inside joke between my classmates and I)

Ho man...long story behind this. We were supposed to vectorise a photograph using Adobe Illustrator for this assignment and we were given 4 weeks to do it (on top of other assignments). The theme was about the things that make us happy (e.g. favourite celebrity, food, animal, e.t.c.) but it has to be a realistic photograph. No cartoony stuff. As I'm not one who likes human celebrities much, I went for one of my favourite food dishes instead - fishball noodles. I thought the level of difficulty would be on par with what most of my classmates were doing (humans), but I WAS WRONG - the individual strands of noodles proved too much for me to handle, and the shininess of the wet noodles didn't make matters easier. I pushed on, but I was clearly lagging behind my classmates. By the 2nd week (half of the given time elapsed), I decided to start from scratch with a different photograph, of a rainbow lorikeet instead.My classmates called me crazy. My teacher was worried that I wouldn't have enough time to finish it and that I'd be overloaded by other assignments. With the little confidence I had left, I pressed on with this photograph instead. Stress was inevitable.

I still remember the day/night I worked on this without sleeping, hours before submission time. It was a living nightmare, rushing to finish this on time before heading to school and enduring the long queue outside the school's printing shop. I remember as I progressed downwards from the lorikeet's head to its bottom, I kept looking at my clock and going "oh sheet it's 3am...oh sheet it's 5am...OH SHEET IT'S 7AM AND I GOTTA GET TO SCHOOL TO QUEUE UP AND PRINT THIS BUT IT'S NOT DONE YET AAAAH" ...I panicked and I rushed through the bottom part of this by taking my tablet pen and using the Brush Tool to draw random, messy strokes in hopes of making them look like feathers. It only made that part seem out of place compared to the rest of the render, which was painstakingly done using the Pen Tool by clicking my mouse a million times. I almost didn't have the energy to keep my eyes open and at that time, I still had loads of stuff to settle for my other assignments (re-naming, organizing and burning my files to a DVD to be submitted).

After all that chaos, I went straight home and slept for 14 hours. Nobody could wake me. On hindsight, I should've put in more thought into choosing my photograph to work on. This assignment has taught me one very important lesson: even if you like something, don't do it for an assignment if you know it's gonna kill you. Well I didn't know rendering fishball noodles would be that hard; should've thought twice about the photo subject before settling on it.

But if there's one thing that I'm proud of is that I managed to finish something of equal quality to my classmates' works in half the time they did 8D...but yeah, let's not make that happen again. It's unhealthy. >__<
