Description Took the pic quick n' cropped/resized it with a free program since I'm on my mother's computer. I may take a better one later... her gamma sucks, and she doesn't want me touching it, so I can't tell if it look good or not.

Anyway! Owl necklace. Obviously. One of a series. I'll upload more stuff when my computer, which is currently borked, is fixed.

Super sculpey embossed with a dressmaker's pin, painted with acrylics and antiquing gel. Anodized aluminum jump ring, suede cording. No clasp.

Wow, This is so beautiful! Amazing detail in the background, I can't believe you did that with a dressmaker's pin, such skill! Love the colour and 'washed' look that you achieved here. Perfect!

Keke, thankya. Glad ya' like it. I'm going to try to make a lot more for a show this November but hopefully not many that need stipling like this! That background makes ADD people like me squeal!

Poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke.

More to come when I quit bein' lazy and upload stuff.

Oh wow. The detail. My eyes water thinking about it. It looks like an engraved illustration from a book.

"Borked" is a good word.

This is so cool! The details are awesome.

I read the description but I still don't really get how you did this...

I got a squished ball of Super Sculpey and used a dressmaker's pin (a pin with a tiny flat head) and drew the owl on it and the branch and moon, then stippled the rest (repeated poking) where the dark areas are. I curled an eye pin and pushed it through, then baked it.

I got antiquing gel and painted it thickly over the piece after painting it ivory, then wiped it off with a paper towel which turned the areas I drew into lines, leaving the rest lighter. Then I used more antiquing gel and ivory acrylic paint to accent the details.

After attaching the jump ring to the eye pin I double-looped some suede cording through it and tied it at the end, pulled it tight to make sure it won't ever come apart, and trimmed the ends.

That's about as detailed as it gets.

If you make one I'd like to see it! Be sure to linky back to me if ya does, miss Blizzfwoof!

Good to see ya.

That's so nice! I really like natural-looking adornments like this.

How large is it?

jemnisimi In reply to Keihou [2009-01-16 19:06:57 +0000 UTC]

About an inch and a centimeter tall I think. I'm not so great with measurements. Fairly small, but big enough to make out from a bit of a distance.

Thankyuu. If you like natural thingies then you'll prolly like one of the necklaces I have planned. I'm not sure when I'll get brave enough to attempt it since it's quite a departure from what I normally do, but basically I have some waxed leather cording, plus this suede, and gray panyas seeds (natural seeds which are polished and used as beads) that I'm going to put together in some randomly fascinating way hehe. I may get some feathers n' stoof; we'll see!

I used to love indian-ish stuff. I'd like to kinda start incorporating that into the things I make. Finances make it a bit hard though since I don't make much money off of what I do most of the time.

Anyways. Hope ya had great holidays! <3 Big hugs.
