Being among the multitude of people who've actually -had- back surgery the entire length of the spine as in your piece, I really can't say I like this one much. I wish it weren't quite so gritty--it makes me very sensitive about what I went through, like it's a mockery to see it drawn so outrageously stitched up and dirty, even though it's perfectly acceptable artistically to do something like that. Scars aren't pretty, and the piece shows that very well, but it really makes them feel almost dishonourable.
Artistically, it's very well oriented and marvelously laid out. The subject really bothers me, though. To a normal person I suppose it would be fine and a beautiful piece, but to someone who actually has that sixteen inches of scar, it's...sensitive.

I wouldn't ask you to apologize or anything--I'd probably be alarmed if you did! Art's about expression, you're right about that, and I'm still a fan of your work. I was definitely a little surprised and nervous to see it, though--it hits really close to home.

Interesting imagery indeed, though...like ~FoxyWolven mentioned of the wing - subtle touch that adds it's own impact.
...like, a 'demon' shed it's skin, then wanted to be an angel again...so it sewed it's winged form back on...a reverse husking...lol.
...I'm in an odd mood.
But I still love the outcome
